Summary.
A programme of historic building recording was carried out by Colchester Archaeological Trust on a pair of stables at Great Graces, Graces Lane, Little Baddow, Essex. Cartographic evidence indicates that stable 1 was constructed sometime between 1777 and 1839. The observable timber-frame of stable 1 comprised handsawn timbers, many of which display evidence of reuse. These timbers, along with the bricks used for the plinth, have likely been salvaged from the manor house when it was partially demolished during the same period. Stable 2 has a construction date of 1960-
