Summary. A programme of historic building recording was carried out by Colchester Archaeological Trust on the outbuildings to the rear of 111 Newland Street, Witham, Essex. 111-115 Newland Street are owned by the East of England Co-operative society and 113 and 115 have the CWS logo carved into the frontage. Outbuilding 1 was mid 20th century in construction. While outbuilding 2 also had 20th century additions, it appears to have incorporated the walls of an earlier building into its structure. Cartographic evidence indicates a pre-1841 construction date for the earlier walls integrated into outbuilding 2.
