Summary. An archaeological evaluation (three trenches) was carried out by Colchester Archaeological Trust on land adjacent to White Ash House, Gosfield, in advance of the construction of two new dwellings with associated driveways and garages. The site was located along the Chelmsford-Braintree-Long Melford Roman road, to the south of the historic settlement of Gosfield. Despite this, no features or finds of a Roman date were encountered. Three features were identified during the evaluation, but they were all post-medieval/modern in origin.
