Summary. Archaeological monitoring and recording was carried out at West Wood, Thundersley, Essex in advance of the construction of a flood- defence bund through the woodland. The development site lies in historic woodland which included a post-medieval lodge and near to areas in which artefacts of prehistoric, Roman and Anglo-Saxon date have been recovered. No significant archaeological remains were uncovered on this site.
