Summary. Archaeological monitoring and recording was carried out at 36 Coast Road, West Mersea, Essex during groundworks for a single-storey side extension. Despite being located in an area of known Roman and medieval archaeological remains and close to the medieval church and site of a priory, no significant archaeological remains were recorded on the development site.
