Summary.
A programme of building recording was carried out by the Colchester Archaeological Trust (CAT) on Hutton Parish Hall, Rayliegh Road, Hutton, Essex in April 2016. The work was commissioned by Hastingwood Developments Ltd. The recorded building is a late Victorian/early Edwardian Workmen’s Club (possibly associated with the workmen at the now disused Brentwood Brickworks) that was adopted as a Parish Hall in the mid 20th-century. The building's roof is supported by composite trusses with wrought iron tie-rods. Unusually, two of these trusses are supported by arched brick fireplaces.
