Summary. Three evaluation trenches were excavated on the site, which is a garden with an existing house (no 18). The site appears to have suffered a high level of modern truncation. This is probably a result of the 19th-century construction of the railway cutting and bridge to the north-west of the site. It would appear that there were substantial groundworks at the time, with only a minimal build-up of topsoil subsequently. The latter includes modern domestic debris.
