Summary. An archaeological evaluation (one trial-trench) was carried out on land to the rear of 136 Sheering Mill Lane, Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire in advance of the construction of a new dwelling. Despite being located within Area of Archaeological Significance 166, the evaluation did not encounter any archaeological remains other than a few fragments of post-medieval pottery and peg-tile from a layer of made-ground.
