Summary. Archaeological monitoring was undertaken at 23 Bridewell Street, Clare, Suffolk ahead of the construction of a single-storey rear extension. The site is located in an area of significant archaeological remains, most notably Clare Common, a large camp likely associated with a medieval manor house. A large modern pit was recorded during the monitoring, although medieval pottery and cut peg-tile recovered could be associated with activity at Clare Common.
