Summary.
Archaeological monitoring took place at 3 Romans Place, Writtle, Chelmsford, ahead of the construction of a rear single-storey extension. The property itself is an 18th-century timberframed Grade II listed building, and is located within the Writtle Conservation Area. Likely early features of the property, a soakaway and brick structure – possibly a well – were identified, as well as a medieval/post-medieval pit.
