Summary. Archaeological monitoring was carried out at Old Riffhams, Riffhams Chase, Little Baddow, Essex during groundworks to install a new boiler plant and other works. Old Riffhams is a Grade II listed timber-framed building dating back to the mid 16th century, possibly with an earlier core. Archaeological monitoring did not reveal any significant archaeological remains. The only features uncovered were modern brick and concrete foundations associated with an old oil drum on the site.
