Summary. An archaeological evaluation (five trial-trenches) was carried out on land at St Dominic’s Residential Home, London Road, Kelvedon, Essex in advance of the construction of new residential care facilities. The site is located within an archaeologically sensitive area, with previous investigations close by providing evidence of activity from the Late Iron Age and Roman periods, through the development of the medieval settlement, and into the modern town. The evaluation revealed modern ditches forming old landscape boundaries and horticultural features, modern rubbish pits and tree-throws.
