Summary. An archaeological evaluation (three trial-trenches) was carried out on land at Rascasse, Sheepcotes Lane, Silver End, Essex in advance of the construction of a new residential development. The site lies on the periphery of the historical village of Silver End in the district of Braintree. Despite lying in an archaeologically-sensitive area, the only feature excavated was a post-medieval ditch in the southernmost trench on site.
