Summary. Archaeological monitoring was carried out at 86 Lexden Road Colchester, Essex during groundworks for a single-storey extension to the rear of the property. The development area was situated within the Late Iron Age oppidum of Camulodunum and the Late Iron Age/Roman Lexden cemetery area. The investigation uncovered one Roman pit that contained two ceramic vessels that were probably displaced grave goods.
