Summary. An archaeological evaluation (three trial-trenches) was carried out at Moulsham Grange, Moulsham Street, Chelmsford, Essex in advance of the construction of a residential building. Moulsham Grange is a locally-listed Edwardian villa located in area of Roman remains with both Napoleonic and WWII defensive features nearby. Stratigraphy of the site showed modern concrete sealing natural ground level, and the only archaeological feature present was a 19th-/20th-century pit.
