Summary. Groundworks for the construction if a single-storey extension were monitored as the development site is 1.02km south-west of the Roman walled town, 60m east of the Colchester-to-Gosbecks Roman road, and close to a number of Roman burials. A modern soakaway, two drains and the remains of a foundation containing modern brick/concrete and plastic waste were the only features revealed during this work.
