Summary. An archaeological monitoring was carried out at East Mersea Hall, Church Lane, Mersea, Essex during groundworks for the construction of a two-storey annexe. East Mersea Hall is 16th century in date, Grade II listed and surrounded by a possible medieval moated enclosure. Despite the potential for archaeological remains from as early as the medieval period, only modern deposits were identified including the burial of a dog.
