Summary. An archaeological evaluation (seven trial-trenches) was carried out on land south of Field View, Ashfield Road, Elmswell, Suffolk in advance of the construction of six new dwellings. The development site is located to north of the village of Elmswell, with a historic green known as Boten Haugh Green (EWL 061) which dates back to at least the 12th century. The evaluation uncovered 13 features: two ditches, a gully and ten pits. Post-medieval/modern finds were recovered from one ditch and the rest of the features were undated.
