Summary. An archaeological excavation was carried out on land north of 63 Rectory Road, Stisted, Essex in advance of the construction of a residential development. Located within the historic village of Stisted, which is likely of medieval origin, an evaluation in February 2021 revealed prehistoric pits and medieval ditches, a gully/plough scar and pit. Open area excavation of the northernmost residential plot uncovered a small number of Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age pits, pits/ditches and postholes/stakeholes.
