Summary. An archaeological evaluation (five trial-trenches) was carried out on land at Watch House Green, Felsted, Essex, in advance of the construction of four new dwellings. The site is located east of a 17th-century timber-framed house (The Watch House) and to the southeast of a 16thcentury timber-framed barn. Nearby evaluation works have uncovered features dating from the Roman, medieval and post-medieval period.

In total twelve cut features (eleven ditches and one post-hole) and a metalled surface were identified in this evaluation. The predominant phase of activity present was from the Roman period, except three ditches and post-hole that were post-medieval or later in date.
