Summary. An archaeological evaluation (one trench) was carried out by Colchester Archaeological Trust at Spaynes Hall, Great Yeldham in advance of the construction of a swimming pool. Despite being located in close proximity to the grade II listed Spaynes Hall and within its historic estate, nothing of archaeological interest was uncovered. Judging from the surrounding ground-levels and the stratigraphy of the trench, the area has been substantially terraced in the recent past.
