Summary.
An archaeological evaluation (four trial-trenches) was carried out on land adjacent to Godbolt’s Farm, Great Tey Road, Marks Tey, Colchester, Essex in advance of the construction of two new dwellings. Godbolt’s Farm is an historic farmstead which has its origins in the 15th century. It lies to the north of a Roman road and near to the supposed site of a deserted medieval settlement. Despite being situated in an archaeologically sensitive area, no archaeological remains were encountered.
