Summary. The observation of test-pitting and augering to investigate kerosene contamination was undertaken at Altyre House, The Causeway, Great Horkesley, Essex. Altyre House has its origins in the 15th century. Despite being located in an archaeologically-sensitive area, no archaeological remains were encountered.
