Summary. An archaeological evaluation (two trial-trenches) was carried out at Rowhedge Recreation Ground, Rectory Road, Rowhedge, Essex in advance of the construction of a new multiuse gaming area. The site lies to the north of the site of a deserted medieval village, and in the midst of several cropmark complexes. Despite being situated in an archaeologically-sensitive area, however, no archaeological remains were encountered.
