Summary. An archaeological evaluation (three trial-trenches) was carried out on land opposite The Drove, Lower Green Lane, Wimbish, Essex, in advance of the construction of a cottage-style dwelling with detached cart-lodge. The site lies within a possible medieval moated settlement. Despite being located in an archaeologically-sensitive area, however, only a post-medieval or modern ditch or pir and a modern pit were uncovered.
