Summary. Archaeological monitoring was carried out at Church of St Mary the Virgin, High Street, Dedham, Essex, during groundworks within the south porch for two internal lavatories with associated internal and external drainage runs. The church dates to the late 15th or early 16th century, and is built on the site of an earlier church. Groundworks at the site revealed a late 19th or early 20th century brick soakaway and an undatable pit.
