Summary. Archaeological monitoring was carried out at 30 Northgate Street, Colchester, Essex, during groundworks for a new extension to the rear of the property. The site lies immediately adjacent to the Roman wall. Despite lying in an archaeologically-sensitive area, however, no archaeological remains were encountered.
