Summary. Archaeological monitoring was carried out at The Gatehouse, Osborne Manor, Colchester, Essex, during groundworks for a new conservatory to the rear of the property. The site lies within an area of known Roman cemeteries and other archaeological remains associated with Roman settlement. Despite being located in an archaeologically-sensitive area, no archaeological remains were encountered.
