Summary. Archaeological monitoring was carried out at Woodlands Residential Home for Ladies, 76 Lexden Road, Colchester, Essex, during groundworks for new extensions. The site lies within the Late Iron Age oppidum of Camulodunum and the Late Iron Age and Roman 'Lexden Cemetery'. Despite being located in an archaeologically-sensitive area, however, only a single undatable pit was exposed by groundworks at this site.
