Summary.
Archaeological monitoring was carried out at 67 Churchfields West Mersea Colchester Essex during groundworks for a single-storey garden room to the side of the property. The site lies within a known area of Roman occupation, near to the Church of St Peter and St Paul, which has its origins in the 11th century, and in the vicinity of the medieval priory, the precise location of which is unknown. Despite being located in an archaeologically-sensitive area, no significant archaeological remains were encountered.
