Summary. An archaeological evaluation (four trial-trenches) was carried out on land adjacent to St Andrew’s Church, Church Street, Colne Engaine, Essex in advance of the extension of the church graveyard. Excavations revealed a medieval or post-medieval pit, a medieval ?quarry pit and a post-medieval pit, along with an undated pit, demonstrating that this has periodically been a site of human activity through the medieval and post-medieval period.
