Summary.
Archaeological monitoring was carried out at Cedarwood Cottage, London Road, Copford, Colchester, Essex in advance of the construction of a replacement dwelling with ancillary accommodation and car-parking. The development site is located near to the line of the Roman road linking Colchester with Coggeshall, a series of cropmarks of possible Iron Age and Roman date, the site of a possible Roman villa, and an undated tumulus. However, despite being located in an area of archaeological interest, no significant archaeological features were uncovered.
