Summary. An archaeological evaluation (seven trial-trenches) was carried out at land off Blue Gates Farm, Colchester Main Road, Alresford, Essex in advance of the construction of nine new dwellings. A ditch corresponding to a cropmark extending across the proposed development site, and a pit were uncovered: these were both of uncertain date.
