Summary. An archaeological evaluation (five trial-trenches) was carried out on land south of Colchester Road, White Colne in advance of a planned housing development. One 13th-14th century boundary ditch was uncovered, possibly delineating a roadside plot. All remaining features were modern or undated but most contained several sherds of residual 13th-14th century pottery, suggesting nearby activity in that time period.
