Summary. Archaeological monitoring and recording was carried out at 99 Lexden Road, Colchester during the construction of a front and rear extension. The development site is located within the Late Iron Age oppidum of Camulodunum, to the west of the Roman walled town and within an area of Roman cemeteries termed ‘the western cemetery’ or the ‘Lexden cemetery’. The excavation uncovered a single pit, possibly a refuse pit, dating to the modern period.
