Summary.
Archaeological monitoring and recording was carried out at 1 Mossfield Close, Colchester, Essex in advance of the construction of a part single-storey/part two-storey rear extension to an existing kitchen diner and bedrooms, and a porch. The development site is located within the Late Iron Age oppidum of Camulodunum, to the west of the Roman walled town and within an area of Roman cemeteries termed ‘the western cemetery’ or the ‘Lexden cemetery'. No significant archaeological features were uncovered.
