Summary. An archaeological watching brief was carried out at 44 Castle Road, Colchester, Essex during the construction of single-storey and two-storey extensions to form new living space at a property located within the Roman town wall and close to Duncan’s Gate. A possible pit and the corner of a cut feature were uncovered.
