Summary. A programme of historic building recording was carried out by Colchester Archaeological Trust at Oxford House, Upper Holt Street, Earls Colne in July 2016. Oxford House is a Grade II listed building (NHLE no. 1337931) with elements dating to the 15th century and alterations/extensions dating to the 16th, 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. The building has been a documented inn since the early 17th century and may have been used for this purpose from the 16th century. It is located close to the Priory, the site of a medieval Benedictine monastery.
