Summary.
An archaeological evaluation on a site on the periphery of the Roman town of Chelmsford (Caesaromagus) revealed 25 archaeological features. Twelve of them were of post-medieval or modern date, and ten were of natural origin or created by modern gardening activities. Only three features were of archaeological significance. These were a north-south gully in the south-west corner of the site, a small Roman pit on the west side of the site, and a prehistoric pit at the extreme north edge of the site. Three prehistoric flints were found in residual contexts.
