Summary. Five trial-trenches were excavated at the Salisbury Hotel, which is thought to occupy a Roman cremation cemetery area. No features or finds of archaeological interest were recorded during the evaluation. This may be due to soil-stripping which was in evidence within the trenches. Alternatively the site could be just outside the main area of the cemetery.
